Assistant Controller

Location: New Albany, Indiana

Samtec is looking for an ambitious individual interested in exploring a new senior-level career opportunity. This person will be responsible for assisting with all accounting functions within Samtec and its subsidiaries. A person in this specialized role will have a high level of exposure to the senior management team as he/she implements change and improvement in all facets of our accounting operations. Growth opportunities are imminent as we expand and streamline accounting operations for approximately 20 subsidiaries worldwide. The Assistant Controller will directly impact company profits by providing accurate and timely financial information that will safeguard any corporate assets from loss.

OBJECTIVE:

• Assist Corporate Controller with upper-level accounting staff workload with an emphasis on reviewing overseas internal control systems and accounting functions.

PERFORMANCE TASKS:

• Utilize management experience to develop a team of approximately 15 A/P and A/R staff accountants; mentor overseas facility accounting controllers/managers.
• Review internal control systems for Samtec facilities worldwide and recommend changes/improvements (could require up to two weeks overseas travel per quarter).
• Manage worldwide credit function by collaborating with the A/R group to determine customer credit limits.
• Provide ongoing support of Great Plains accounting software package by acting as liaison between Samtec and provider.
• Work with overseas subsidiaries to move accounting functions in house.
• Assist with quarterly general ledger accounting for approximately 20 subsidiary entities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in both private and public accounting practices
• CPA a plus, but not required
