XAUI is a serial interface standard for connecting 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports to each other as well as to other devices on a PCB.  XAUI connectors consist of four lanes, and each lane has two differential pairs for a total of eight pairs per connector. Each lane runs at a “Baud rate” of 3.125Gbps for an aggregate speed of 10Gbps.
