REACH INFORMATION
(Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of CHemicals)
REACH is the newly adopted European legislation directed to regulate the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemical Substances. The REACH legislation was finalized in December 2006. The regulation has been in effect since 1 June 2007.
In response to the requirements of the REACH regulation, Samtec is proactively contacting suppliers to ensure that all required pre-registration and subsequent registration of in-scope substances in formulations, preparations, materials, and/or articles be completed in the timelines mandated by the REACH program. Our intent in this endeavor will be to ensure an ongoing supply of all materials incorporated in Samtec products and processes thereby eliminating any potential interruption of product availability for our customers. Based on the "article" criteria stipulated in the REACH regulation, the articles manufactured by Samtec are interpreted to be exempt from substance registration.
In regard to the 16 SVHC substances currently on the draft pre-candidate list, none of these substances are intentionally added to Samtec products or used in their manufacture. It is important to note that the official “Candidate List” is not yet finalized, but will be released for publication at a later date. Samtec will provide updates as additional information is received.
If you have questions concerning Samtec’s position with the REACH regulation, please email your query to the Samtec Product Environmental Compliance Group.
