Samtec Announces New Data Rate™ I/O Cable Assemblies for Rugged, Signal Integrity Applications

Samtec has announced the addition of new Data Rate™ I/O Cable Plugs (VPDP Series) and Receptacles (VRDPC Series) for high data rate, high reliability panel-to-panel and panel-to-board applications.

These high density cable plugs use 30 AWG twinax micro ribbon cable and feature 100W differential signal routing with 8, 12, 16, or 24 signal pairs.  They are available with standard or reverse polarization and are ideal for longer length applications up to one meter.  Samtec twinax cable has low skew (pair-to-pair less than 10 ps/ft and within a pair less than 5 ps/ft) and superior EMI performance with a FCC Class A rating.  Standard screw locks and alignment features make them ideal for rugged applications as well.

The right-angle receptacles have contacts on .8mm (.0315”) pitch for mating with the high density cable plugs.  The system is rated at 1 amp per contact with a contact resistance of less than 15 milliohms per contact.
